The hospitality industry is no exception. Manual check-ins can be time-consuming for both staff and guests, especially during peak hours or late-night arrivals. Where the front desk was once the only option, many modern hotels now offer self check-in kiosks as a convenient and efficient alternative for welcoming and checking out guests.

Heisenbug’s Approach to Self-Service

Norwegian developer Heisenbug has embraced this trend by creating digital products and self-service solutions that enhance the guest journey before, during and after every stay. At the heart of this portfolio is FastTrack, a software solution designed to simplify check-in and check-out while elevating the guest experience.

FastTrack enables guests to handle everything from check-in and payments to key collection and check-out through a single intuitive interface at hotel check-in kiosks. The system integrates seamlessly with existing hotel platforms and can be extended with mobile apps, branded websites and other digital services to support a fully connected guest journey.

Today Heisenbug’s kiosks and solutions are deployed across Europe, helping hotels of all sizes from boutique properties to international chains boost efficiency, save time and deliver a consistently excellent guest experience.

A Scalable Kiosk Solution with Citybox

Together with the international hotel chain Citybox, Heisenbug has developed a self-service kiosk product line that allows guests to manage their stay independently from arrival to departure. These kiosks are already in operation at Citybox locations across Europe, with more installations underway.

We have developed several products in collaboration with Citybox. At the moment we operate around 20 self-service check-in and check-out kiosks across Europe, and that number keeps growing.

Each kiosk is built to withstand the demands of high-traffic environments. Reliability is crucial, because downtime or unresponsive touch interfaces would create bottlenecks instead of removing them. To guarantee smooth operation day after day, Heisenbug has chosen Beetronics touchscreens as the main kiosk touch screen interface. The displays are not only integrated into the initial Citybox solution but have become the standard interface across the entire Heisenbug self-service kiosk line.

Why Heisenbug Chose Beetronics

The kiosks currently use the 27-inch touchscreen monitor, and the 15-inch high brightness touchscreen display. These models were selected for their easy integration, responsive touch performance, and reliable operation in public-facing environments. Whether installed in hotel lobbies, corridors, or shared-use buildings, the displays provide the clarity and robustness required for a consistent guest experience in high-traffic locations. In brighter settings, such as lobbies with large windows or strong overhead lighting, the high brightness panel ensures that content remains clearly visible at all times.

Long-term availability is just as important. Beetronics ensures that the same models remain accessible for future rollouts, allowing Heisenbug to expand its kiosk deployments with identical hardware. This consistency avoids version mismatches, simplifies maintenance and ensures compatibility across all locations. Not only today but also for the years ahead.

The Future of Self-Service in Hospitality

The recent deployment of self-service kiosks at the new Citybox location in Helsinki is illustrative of a broader industry shift. Hotels across Europe are increasingly adopting digital solutions that streamline operations while giving guests more control over their stay.

The move toward self-service in hospitality shows no signs of slowing down. By bringing together advanced software and reliable hardware, the collaboration between Heisenbug and Beetronics provides a solid foundation for long-term growth and continuous innovation. This approach supports hotels in adapting to changing guest expectations and ensures that self-service will remain a defining part of the hospitality experience in the years ahead.
